We are a boutique home care agency in North Toronto/North York. We specialize in Alzheimer's and Dementia clients.
We are seeking a highly organized and personable companions for retired executive clients that need help with activities of daily living and lifestyle.  We are looking for engaging, compassionate individuals who are interested in supporting older adults. A companion position can require just several hours per week, or as much as 30+ hours per week.

They are looking for someone with a bright smile and different life experiences who are interested in bridging a generational gap and enjoying one another's company. 

Our job openings are first and foremost about creating a personal connection with your client. Many of our positions will involve experience in supporting clients with early to moderate-stage dementia so bring your personal or professional experience. There is no assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting or other "hands on" care. No certificates are required. You do not need to be a PSW. Our clients are independent. All you need is the time and the love to help others.

Responsibilities:

Providing companionship to older adults and individuals with chronic conditions; this may include discussing current events or shared interests, or taking trips to cultural or entertainment venues.  Assisting with non-physical tasks such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, and light housework. Assist with tasks on computer and smartphone. Safety supervision, standby assistance with ambulation or certain other tasks, medication reminders, adherence to care plans.  For clients with dementia, you'll need to communicate effectively, provide mental stimulation, and/or safety supervision, as necessary.

You will have the unique opportunity to get training in supporting adults with dementia; these are interactive virtual and classroom experiences that allow you to ask questions and role-play.

You will receive ongoing support from our staff, as well as a detailed briefing on any client you meet.

Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
